Same as above(or bottom of last page). Really smart, intuitive people on this thread.

This is coming from a dog lover - I do commend you for the poop bag, after all no one wants to step in THAT - keep your dog off her property. I'm sure that as a responsible dog owner you have the skill to steer your dog elsewhere; there must be other strips of grass in front of other neighbors' houses for your dog to turn yellow other than this woman's.

In fact, you could conduct your own survey of other peoples' attitudes towards this nuisance by having your dog urinate on all your neighbors' properties, wait until all the grass turns yellow, and have them all fill out a form asking them whether or not they think the yellow grass is attractive to them, or they welcome it, etc. Then you'll know where everyone in your neighborhood stands and where you can have your dog urinate and turn the grass yellow. You'll have a definite answer and be able to avoid further confrontations.

Or better yet, why don't you just take your dog out in your own backyard to do its business and turn your own grass yellow, and THEN walk it around your neighborhood. Of course if it continues to leak on other people's grass as you walk around the neighborhood, your dog may need a doggie plumber.

Another idea: perhaps you should go buy a portable piece of natural sod, bring it with you on your dog walks around the neighborhood after your dog has relieved itself on your property (after all you are the responsible owner and therefore should be the one to have to look at the majority of yellow grass), and just before the split second your dog has to "go," throw the sod on top of the grass that your dog is aiming for.

Really, have some respect for this woman's opinion even if you don't agree with her. She's entitled to have her green grass. One of these days she just might get creative and take a picture of you and your dog and turn it over to animal control and lodge a complaint.

Everyone seems to have diverse opinions. IMHO the woman has a point, she works at keeping her grass nice, you work on killing it.

if i had a dog, which I don't, and someone complained to me about something like this, which is a bothersome, but not illegal, I probably would go out of my way to be accommodating if its not an undue burden, it’s the neighborly thing to do.
Another way to solve the problem, at least what my inlaws do for their dog with some success. Add a little tomato juice, I think a tablespoon or so, to the dogs food, which will change the PH of the urine and not kill the grass.

It sounds like your dog keeps doing business in the same area. We used to have a neighbor down the block who used to let his dog go on our front lawn ALOT. An occasional "incident", hehe, is ok but when it keeps happening you begin to wonder if your being targeted for some reason.

Incidently the first few feet of the lawn is public property BUT it is commonly understood to part of that person's front lawn. If people and their dogs are going to keep pooping it up - how would our neighborhoods start looking if people stop taking care of their properties?

Am I wrong here? What's right is right? I am very responsible and never allow him into anyone yard. Who id she to say I can't walk my dog on a sidewalk and that he can't pee on that strip of grass? It's silly and would be a mistake on my part I think to give in and allow her to pull something like that. Am I wrong?
The concept of "curbing" your dog makes sense. Walk him in the street. Your neighbor has to maintain the grass between the street and the sidewalk and honestly, there's nothing worse than not having a dog but mowing over dog poo. Or having that grass burn from dogs peeing on it, as you're trying to put grass seed down and keep that area looking as nice as your lawn.

Really...common courtesy. Not everyone loves your dog. Keep him in the street.

Yeah, it was just a joke. Sheesh! Just have your dog **** on your own lawn, you just need to train them to do that when they're a pup.

Hi all,

I have been follow this post and feel complied to comment. I am currently not a dog owner, but have owned dogs for 20 years in my youth. Actually had three at one time. I grew up in Albertson (great town). I had to walk my dogs in the morning and in the afternoon and NEVER let them urinate or defecate on anyone's property. It is simply disrespectfully to your neighbors! I CURBED my dogs, made them use the street. They are dogs they listen to their owners. The Issues here is not the dogs, it is the disrespectfully owner. People need to wake up and realize that disrespecting people in general is unacceptable. If your going to do it, you should be prepared to deal with the consequences.

This reminds me of the homeowners who totally freak if someone parks in front of their house because they think they own the street in front of their house. Ridiculous.

As far as dog owners... I just wish they would all pick up their dog's poop.... how absolutely disgusting is it when they allow their dogs to crap all over the place and don't have the decency to clean it up.
