I have to laugh about this one "in a Good way" Why is it that when people hear youre from Longisland they automatically think your Rich with tons of money.. I grew up there my whole life, I moved to a small town Upstate NY As soon as people here youre accent They think youre loaded.. Little does people know I struggled to raise my family on Longisland but i did it?? They just automatically assume where moving up and taking over ,Anyone else come across this LOL

Compared to many areas of the county, Long Islanders make a lot of money. If you live in a small town and look at per capita statistics you would come away with the impression that everyone on Long Island is comparatively rich.

Got to agree with Sassychick on this one. When I go back to Pennsylvania thats all I hear...how much money you have, let him pick up the bill with all his NY $, etc. They dont realize that the pay scale vs. the cost of living is comparable. I would take a 25% paycut to live in Pa. But the houses are 40% less. Its the same story no matter where you live, just with different number$.

Also we tend to "export" a lot of pensioners and retirees to other parts of the country where the hard-earned New York wages, when being spent in an area like Arizona after retirement, makes you look comparatively "rich".
