We live in a 2 family house. We and the people upstairs are very clean. We moved in a year ago. 2 months in we noticed mice. Complained to him and he brought his "guy" who laid down sticky traps, poison, and filled outside holes. (not sure what he used to fill holes) The traps hardly catch anything and the poison does nothing. The mice seem to go away for a month at a time but eventually they always come back especially now that its getting colder out. Tonight we found mouse poop on our bed. My landlord literally said tell me what you want me to do and ill do it. What would you ask for to get rid of this constant rodent problem. Money is no object. Im basically looking for a commercial exterminator that people have had good experiences with.
PS Im allergic to cats.

The mice are getting in from the outside, so this is an issue with access holes. I'm assuming that the house is pretty old.

The only way to stop them is to make sure that there are no gaps under exterior doors, and no holes in the siding or foundation for them to get through.

I rented out a house and the tenants actually brought in the mice with them in their move. Lovely. The wife specifically asked me before their moving in if there were mice in the house. She didn't ask about any other creepy crawlers. Just mice. The house never in it's 55 years had a mouse in it until these people moved in.

I hired Terminix since the tenants refused to put down any glue pads or cooperate in any way. Terminix only put down glue pads all over the place. I think because these people had a young son who got into everything (and I do mean everything), the exterminator wouldn't use poison or regular traps. The glue pads got the mice.

But I could have gone to the hardware store and gotten the glue pads for something like $4.99 instead of paying Terminix $600 to get rid of the mice that the tenants brought with them.

If these are those teeny field mice, it really is a problem, as dman said of access from the outside . The poor little things are cold and so they crawl into a house to get warm. Field mice have very soft bones and can fit into a hole the size of an eraser.

Make sure that there aren't any food sources either. Clean, clean, clean. No crumbs, no food on the counter, etc.

Yeah, just be prepared to be picking up carcasses and occasionally finding one hidden somewhere in your furniture.

With a cat, mice will eventually not even come into the house because they smell the cat... but when I had outside cats, they would frequently bring half dead things into my bedroom to show me what a good job they were doing (barf!)
