Peter Pan Diner rite off Sunrise! Remember Dairy Barn's? The first Dairy Barn that came about YEARS ago was on Broadway in Massapequa, it's still there!

Default Twisted Sister at Cheers

The bar on Deer Park Ave., the Black and red one that Twisted Sister used to play at, was called Cheers.

And before that it was the Saint James Infirmary. I got sneaked in by a cousin who was playing there.

It was right off Sunrise Highway and parking was under the railroad. Was it the Sunrise Diner? Cannot remember a ski shop. As soon as you walked in the counter, filled with desserts, was right there.

I can remember all the families congregating there. The food was great. I think we have only one diner in Houston.

What???? No thirty page menus in Texas ? How is that possible ?

I had not realized that diners were a Long Island phenomena. They were always a part of NYC city life (in the different format of "coffee shops" ) . Maybe it is because of all the Greek immigrants. I am pretty sure, though, that they exist in other staes. There's a great old-fashioned one in Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco.

No authentic diners in this part of the world. There is one called the 59 Diner
and that's about it. Not even an actual NY diner. Food does not taste the same down here. The first time I asked for noodles in a Chinese rest. the waiter had no idea what I was talking about. Noodles are not served with the soup and the food does not taste like NY Chinese food. You have to talk to someone from the east to back me up because the people born down here have nothing to compare their food to. When my oldest son came home from his first trip to NY the first thing he said was that he would move to NY just for the food. He never believed me until he took the trip and found out for himself.
