I am not sure? You may be right. Those are the only three I really know of.

What???? No thirty page menus in Texas ? How is that possible ?

I had not realized that diners were a Long Island phenomena. They were always a part of NYC city life (in the different format of "coffee shops" ) . Maybe it is because of all the Greek immigrants. I am pretty sure, though, that they exist in other states. There's a great old-fashioned one in Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco.
59 Diner is NOT like diners back home on LI - that's the only diner I know of in Houston...it's just not the same.

I can't believe this thread is as old as it is and I have only read halfway through!!
Got to someone mentioning the Speaks commercial and I swear I could hear it in my head!!! Cool
I'm from Plainview and am enjoying this immensely. My dad & uncle worked for Grumman, and before then, my dad was a milkman for Dellwood.

Hey lisa g ~ I'm from Plainview, aslo. I graduated from Plainview High School in '67, We had the largest graduating class, before they split up the classes because of the new high school. John Savage (John Youngs) was in my class.

Is there still a public swimming pool in the park off of Washington Ave. in Plainview? I remember the year it opened, maybe '62 or '63. We spent our summers there, sunning and listening to our transister radios. That was such an innocent time.

Hi Moonlight, I graduated from JFK HS in 1984. The pool/park was still there at that time, but I have no idea what's there now. In the early 80's I worked at the Old Country Twin theaters (across from the Plainview Diner), which is now a medical building I think. It was a very cool place to grow up.
Are you still in Plainview or on LI?

When I briefly drove by, the building looked either brand new or completely re-done. Thats why I was suprised to see it being a Ground Round.
