Can somebody offer some insight please?? We are relocating to Long Island, my husband is a commercial plumbing foreman with 14 years experience and we are having a horrible time finding a job for him. The union wants him to start all over again by attending their school, which is ridiculous and private companies don't seem to answer. I assume they are just answering the people who live in NY. He is going to look into taking the test to get a plumbing license, we just need to find the plumbing codes book for Suffolk County. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! He is an outstanding plumber/handyman. THanks!!

Contact the Suffolk County Office for Consumer Affairs, Licensing and ask where you can obtain copies of the building code as it relates to plumbers in Suffolk County.
Hello quick move, I just stumbled on your post as I was looking for a place to relocate myself. Honestly there are so many registered and non registered plumbers in the Suffolk county area it is not even funny. Between the competition, taxes, cost of living, renting space, workman's comp, LIABILITY!, and licensing fees that are required by specific areas, it is no wonder there are so many unlicensed plumbers. We are looking to get out. Any one know where is a good place to start a plumbing company where there are not that many plumbers and plumbing is in demand?
Hi Dee, The problem we've come across is getting other states to reciprocate with the out of state license and some places want you to start all over with their schools. But things worked out for us as my husband got into the union ther. Good luck to you!
