If Obama is the indeed the Antichrist I guess Bush is Satan's Penis?

Bottom line any leader that fails to govern from the center fails.

The real question is Long Island Red or Blue?

Smash,

Again your missing the point. I brought up examples of successful Red States that have implemented conversative policies to really shine, and you then try to lump in less successful states to make your argument. I'm not saying Red States are better than Blue States or vice versa. I'm saying that Red States which have implemented smart conservative fiscal policies have seen real investment, growth, improved education, better infrastructure, and job creation compared to the rest of the country.

The auto industry is a great example of this. Blue State Michigan lets itself be controlled and strangled by the UAW. Unions run the political machine there, and they have created an enviroment of ridiculous pensions, benefits, anti-layoff schemes, etc. on the auto companies there.

Alabama, Tennessee, and other states in the south welcome foreign auto manufacturers and don't let the unions bully them around. The result is a real success story for those communities with new growth and jobs created.

We can either live in the Blue State past with its old political machines, corruption, and red tape, or we can reform our ways. This goes for both Dems and Republicans in NY and other blue states. The Republicans up here are basically Democrats in disguise and do nothing to stop the cronies, favors, horrible spending, taxes, and red tape.

I clearly think we should adopt more successful, smart, conservative fiscal policies that have proven real growth. If you don't, then that's your opinion and there is nothing I can do to change it.

Bush certainly made his share of mistakes, and allowing Congress to spend spend spend the way Democrats historically had done, was a key problem. He wasn't a real fiscal conservative.

However, my beef with most people in the US today is that they blame Bush for everything that goes wrong in their lives. Lost your job? Bush's fault. Wrongful arrest? Bush did it. Civil rights violation. Must be Bush. Can't get into the university you want? Yup, Bush's fault.

This attitude is VERY reflective of a huge developing problem in our society today. Lack of accountability. People are always eager to try to deflect blame and push it onto someone else. It allows them to take less responsibility for their actions.

One of the dirtiest little secrets of our credit crunch has to do with whose fault it is. Certainly, the surplus in capital coming from China and the Greenspan's insistence on keeping rates low contributed. But, when Democrats in Congress strong-armed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into buying 1 Trillion of the estimated 3 trillion worth of bad mortgage debt, no one said anything. Why? Because in America everyone was supposed to be a home owner...no matter how bad their credit, income, or debt is.

The people that have run up massive personal debt and taken on mortgages they couldn't afford need to stop blaming Bush and look in the mirror. Take some personal responsibility and face the truth about your actions. It's too convenient to just push the blame elsewhere, but that's unfair.

Dear Red States:
If you manage to steal this election, too, we've decided we're leaving.
We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue
States with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes California ,
Hawaii , Oregon , Washington , Minnesota , Wisconsin , Michigan ,
Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial
to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New
California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas , Oklahoma and all the slave states. We
get stem cell research and the best beaches.
We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85% of America 's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get
Alabama .
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay
their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22% lower than the Christian
Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single
moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war,
and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you
need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're
apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they
don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming
home. We do wish you success in Iraq , and hope that the WMDs turn up,
but we're ! not wil ling to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80% of the
country's fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92%
of the nation's fresh fruit, 95% of America's quality wines, 90% of all
cheese, 90% of the high tech industry, 95% of the corn and soybeans
(thanks Iowa!), most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods,
sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus
Stanford, Cal Tech, UCLA, Berkeley and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88%
of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92% of
all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the
hurricanes, 99% of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100% of all
televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the
University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite , thank you.

Additionally, 38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually
swallowed by a whale, 62% believe life is sacred unless we're discussing
the war, the death penalty or gun laws, 44% say that evolution is only
a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in
9/11 and 61% of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher
morals then we lefties.

Finally, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed
they grow in Mexico .

Peace out,

--Blue States
Maybe I'm selfish, but I don't give a damn about 95% of the things mentioned in "Dear Red State". I think Florida & California have a bunch of televangelists. You can keep 'em.

I don't smoke dope, but where does the good pot originate?

People in the know from New York & California are moving to where there is opportunity.

The Red States are financially stable, and people are becoming wealthy. Come on down!!!
I'm sorry...but that first sentence is MORONIC. If EVERYONE from Long Island moved to those areas...they would be just like long island! EXIBIT A; SOUTH FLORIDA.

This country has been doing the whole "Fad mass movement" thing for generations...it doesnt' work. Long Island isn't expensive for some cosmic reason...its expensive because of the people who live there (and NOT just the state government as so many whiners like to say). If the people who live there all move someplace else...the places they move will be just the same. I lived in Wake Count NC (raleigh and surrounding suburbs) from 1994 to 2007. Ever since the huge wave of transplants from places like Long Island, New Jersey, Florida, and California started around 2000-2003, things down there changed DRAMATICALY. Cost of living is going up, traffic is getting much worse, forrests and farmland are being bulldozed for subdivisions where the $400k houses are on zero lot lines (i.e practically on top of each other with no yards) and the school system is MESS with overcrowding, bussing and a whole range of issues that go along with it. The notion that everyone from Long Island and other expensive areas can leave those areas for the "greener pastures" of the mid-south and desert south west is RIDICULOUS and will be proven a major fallacy within the next decade or so (probably sooner). People were saying the same thing about Florida when everyone from LI was moving there 10 years ago...and they were saying the same thing about Long Island when everyone was moving there from the city 30-50 years ago. People need to learn to be community oriented and try and work to better their community and take pride in it to try and fix issues instead of running away from the problems of where they live (thinking they are escaping them) and bringing the problems of their hometowns with them!
