Does anyone feel isolated or that it's hard to go to other places living in Long Beach? Are there enough choices for shopping? Second issue, is it primarily young, or is it that the west end is young and east is ok for older (someone in their 50s)? Thanks.

Long Beach has three exits/entrances which is more than some other small barrier islands have ... the Long Beach Bridge that goes into the center of town, the Loop Parkway near Lido Beach area that runs into the Meadowbrook Parkway and takes you to Southern State, Northern State, etc., plus west of Long Beach is the Atlantic Beach Bridge that takes you to the Queens border. Plus it has the Long Island Rail Road and bus service.

I would say there is enough shopping in the local area for everyday things, plus you can take the Loop Parkway to get to Roosevelt Field Mall. And if you go over the Long Beach Bridge to the Oceanside area, there is plenty of good shopping on Long Beach Road.

Age question ... I know someone in their 50s who owns a house in the West End and has had it for years. There are probably many more like her. I think all of Long Beach has a good mix of ages and someone in their 50s would fit in wherever they choose.
