Living In New York Question
Hello Fellow New Yorkers, In need of some friendly but honest advice. I currently live on Long Island and considering a move else where in the state. Love the country but not total sticks or where major medical facilities are more than an hour away. My husband in an electrician and I'm in the education field. On Long Island he earns a nice salary and of course there is money to go around in these parts. ( So I Hear) However taxes are extremely high etc...etc...I know of several others who went South and loved it but... No steady work.
Can anyone suggest an location in New York where there's an area with great schools, shopping, medical facilities, family/ kid oriented area, not a lot of snow, and where crime is low.
Thank you in advance!

Anything in the NYC metro area is going to be expensive compared to the South. However, for a similar but slightly less expensive lifestyle but not much snow, you're probably better in areas of New Jersey, Conneticut, and Upstate NY... counties like Rockland and Putnam, or the Freehold area of New Jersey. Once you go much further North than Putnam County in NY, the winter gets significantly worse.

I thought the formula for New York was:
less taxes=more snow
or maybe more snow=less taxes!
