Default How bad is it to be near McArthur Airport? Is Avenue B near LIE busy and noisy?

We were looking at a home in Holbrook which looks to be almost walking distance to this airport and sitting almost within the flight path route to the runway. How noisy could it get exactly? It's such as nice home, decent price, but is it worth it? It is also right near the LIE. How noisy and busy is Avenue B? I have 2 babies and don't want the dangers of speeding traffic zooming by. I've lived in Manhattan for over 7 years so a bit of noise really doesn't bother me. But I don't want anything so busy and noisy that it will drive my family insane.

Personally, I would not buy a house right in the flight path. You can always upgrade your house and change things around to your liking but you are never going to be able to change the flight path to the airport. I am familiar with this area and there are many planes that will fly overhead each day - not worth it in my opinion no matter how good of a deal you are getting. I was faced with a similar situation - a very nice house, beautifully decorated, nice neighborhood on Campus Lane, and a great price but I am so happy I did not pull the trigger as I would have hated seeing and hearing those airplanes every day.

i am a verizon tech, and have worked in that area. the planes fly pretty low, and are very loud. i remember the 1st time i was working there. i thought a plane was about to crash. it scared the crap out of me. i am sure when you live there for a while you sort of get used to it, but you have to give resale value, and how hard it may be to sell in the future.
