Hello.
My husband and I will soon be moving our family from So. CA to the NY area. He has taken a job in Manhattan and we are considering LI. I have 3 children ages 11, 9 and 5 so good schools are a MUST.

I have been using http://www.greatschools.net/cities.page?city=Syosset&state=NY to survey the neighborhoods. If you are familiar with LI, would you please let me know if this website's data has an acurate reflection of the home prices and school ratings?

I consider greatschools.net to be the best online resource for central data on school districts. I couldn't vouch for its home prices, but I don't believe it's possible to get that online accurately anywhere at this time.

I dont know enough about Long Beach Schools but its alot like Huntington Beach.

I lived in Irvine for a bit

So Cal and LI are very similar.

This board is a great resource.

I like www.schooldigger.com, it actually ranks the districts/schools

Schooldigger.com is interesting, but something is wrong when Ward Melville High School only gets 2 stars. Just goes to show that you really need to dive into the actual school reports to see exactly what is going on.
