In lieu of the Christmas lights display at Jones Beach..
is there ANYTHING festive left to do on Long Island for Christmas?? and I don't mean go stare at the EAB (or reckson plaza, whatever) Christmas tree or ice skate. Anything similar to the Jones Beach lightshow out there? I'm so sad it's still canceled =[ It was my yearly tradition..

There is the Bayville Winter Wonderland on Bayville Avenue. I'm going to take my kids on Sunday. I'll let you know how it is. http://www.BayvilleWinterWonderland.com

I probably should have been more specific lol.. suffolk will be too far to drive to on my little christmas party night. Even bayville, though in nassau, would take about 45 or so minutes.. anything going on in nassau?? Closer to west hempstead area?

Wish I knew, I really miss the Jones Beach lights....especially the first few years when they had them at the West End. It was well worth the insane price they charged!

i KNOW!! It was expensive! but worth it! I think it was just greed.. because they HAD to be making money on it.. perhaps just not ENOUGH to satisfy their pockets so setting up the whole thing wasn't worth it?? HOw rude! The last year when they moved it into a parking lot was terrible.. that couldn't have helped attendance.
I saw something from 2007 about a light show in Brookhaven but can't find anything on it this year. Anybody know if its going on this year?????

They moved it because some environmental group complained that birds could fly into the displays. It wasn't nearly as cool in the parking lot, but still better than nothing. I hope those damn Piping Plovers are happy with their unimpeded flight patterns now!
