Unfortunately, Crooks, I do not and the commercially available maps, such as Hagstrom, show the borders of the the cities, villages, ZIP Code postal zones and school districts, but do not show the borders of hamlets.

Have you tried using the http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...eractive.html] to see if a map such as this is available?

[I'm guessing that this might be possible but I have not attempted to do so myself because (no snickering now) I have not been able to access these interactive maps because I'm using WIN98 (remember, no snickering), which is is not able to do so.]

Thanks for all the great info. You guys are the best!

By the way, I was just looking at the district map of Half Hollow Hills and -- why is High School East on west of Dix Hills and High School West on the east side?!

There are 7 elementary schools in the HHH district. They are all pretty comparable, but you should find out which one this house is zoned for because it isn't always the closest. They try to keep each school similar in terms of demographics as the school district includes high income areas as well as lower income areas such as Wheatley Heights (although I wouldn't say "poor" as a previous poster said). I would guess that the E Northport section would go to either Forest Park or Vanderbilt. All of the elementary schools move together into one of the two mioddle schools, and then Candlewood Middle all go to HS West and West Hollow Middle all go to HS East. Also disagree with previous poster that HS East has the rich/poor thing going on moreso than HS West. Vanderbilt elementary is 20% Wheatley Heights and that ultimately goes to HS West. It is an excellent district, but there is a big disparity in wealth. Dix Hills was recently voted #19 on top 20 most affluent neighborhoods in country with population over 20,000 by Forbes, and other neighborhoods that go to HHH are nowhere near as wealthy. But the kids get an excellent education and you teach them not to discriminate based on material things. Good luck.

Wherever you move, try as hard as possible to stay within the boundaries of HHH West - llauren's reasoning is 100% correct.
