I'm considering a move to Deer Park from southern US. Can anyone give me some inside scoop? As I look for affordable housing, I'm excited to see what I find. Then, if I see too much in the same city, I wonder.

According to schooling information, the % qualifying for school lunch in the local elementary schools is low. That's a good sign, but that's not all.

What other affordable and safe areas with good schools might you all suggest?

What part of the south, if you don't mind me asking...

My memory of Deer Park is that it's a decent area. But you may want to get the advice of someone who currently lives there.

Central Florida. Ugh.

If you want slow, poor, sloppy, crime-prone neighbors, you want this area (I have a house for sale, BTW). Now, if things in Florida couldn't get worse, the Republican legislature is considering abolishing the property tax. Just homes? Oh, no. Everything. Why get rid of the income tax if you aren't going to get rid of the property tax - duh!

So, our schools are already 48th, or something like that. Why like Mississippi and West Virginia beat us?!

deer park is a nice place to live - but please be aware there is a large scale outlet mall planned to be built there shortly. There is lots of opposition against the mall, which will bring hordes of traffic to roads that simply cannot handle the
expected increase.
Article below notes an expected 8 million to 9 million visitors a year at the planned mall. From what I have read this mall will be built.
good luck with your decision.

My cousin taught in Deer Park, she said the schools were good, she moved to Fla 2 years ago to be near her parents. I heard they are building a tanger mall or mall there in the near future. It is a hardworking community.

Well, where are the most affordable homes with good to descent schools?

Maybe that's a better question to ask?

Thanks!
