Default Eastern Long Island Traffic - Christmas Day

We're heading out East for a Montauk Christmas this year. Any idea on what traffic to expect if we're heading from Queens to Montauk in the late afternoon on Christmas Day?

It was a horror show driving eastbound on the LIE and SS on Thanksgiving day. Took 4 hours from midtown to Sound Beach in the afternoon.

We're heading from Queens to Sayville at around 2pm. We'll be leaving Sayville at about 7pm to head to Montauk. Should I expect stand-still traffic in the Hamptons or on Montauk Hwy at that time?

I wouldn't think so since you're probably going against the flow, but who knows?

I think the Sayville leg will be the worst. After 7 heading out to Montauk shouldn't be so bad. I thought you meant in the afternoon.

Traffic is real bad around the malls. One hour to get from Centereach to Smith Haven Mall this past Saturday. Everything is gridlocked around the mall, inside though it didn't seem so bad. Judging from all those cars you'd think the mall would be wall to wall ppl but it wasn't.
Around Roosevelt Field some traffic too, though more like 15 min delays, having the Meadowbrook nearby helps, around Smith Haven it's all roads with lights.
