I see that you prefer President Bush's spelling: Hanukkah.
The initial Hebrew letter can be transliterated as "CH" or "H", or even "KH".

"New York times failing journalistic standards"
Translation: "does not support neo-con/right wing talk radio agenda."
Someone should tell the guys on that site about the "myth" that capitalism is some sort of organic force that operates outside of all human faults. "The myth of the Robber Barons". Puh-lease.

One of the biggest deal breakers in 05 was an amendment to the bill added by Senator Robert Bennett of Utah which would allow congress to block receivership. That made the bill much weaker and played a big role in killing the bill. One of Frank's and Dodd's major objections is that the reform did not go far enough, and the Bennett amendment was the straw that broke the Camel's back.

What are banks charging for closing costs (ie money flushed down the drain) on refi's? We have some money in the bank and I wonder if it makes sense to whack the principle down and then refinance to lower our monthly payment.

Ask your lender if they'll consider a modification of your loan--would save you tons of money. Sometimes they'll agree - worth a try, what do you think?
