I don't think there's much under us to support tunnels. LI is mostly a big pile of stuff left over from glaciers.
OK that sounds reasonable, but how can that 50 story "lighthouse" be built in Uniondale, since skyscrapers need firm bedrock?
Also if tunnels cannot be supported, than I guess the idea of a Cross-Sound Tunnel should be DOA.
The traffic around Roosevelt Field the day after Christmas was atrocious. Disgusting. My wife and I had to go from GC to Hicksville to visit my sister. It was like trying to get out of New Orleans with a Hurricane coming!!
I lay most of the blame on the people going to the Mall. (When are people going to get a life and hobby behinds worshipping stores.) Trying to maneuver on Old Country Rd., Jericho, or Stewart that day was a nightmare beyond belief.
For those who may not be familiar with East Garden City

Actually, Johninwestbury, just like Roosevelt Field, which has a "Garden City, NY 11530" mailing addess but is in East Garden City, the proposed 50-story "Lighthouse" has a "Uniondale, NY 11553" mailing address but also is in East Garden City.
Almost exactly like New Cassel, where none of the places in the community have the hamlet name as part of their mailing address, East Garden City is also one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the hamlet name as part of their mailing address; but, while New Cassel is in one ZIP Code postal zone ("Westbury, NY 11590"), East Garden City is in four ZIP Code postal zones ("Garden City, NY 11530", "Westbury, NY 11590", "Uniondale, NY 11553" and "Hempstead, NY 11550").
Here are some other well-known places that are in the Hamlet of East Garden City:
Cradle of Aviation Museum, East Garden City (Garden City P.O.)
Fortunoff, East Garden City (Westbury P.O.)
Hofstra University Dorms, East Garden City (Hempstead P.O.)
Mall at The Source, East Garden City (Westbury P.O.)
Nassau County Community College, East Garden City (Garden City P.O.)
Nassau County Veterans Memorial Coliseum, East Garden City (Uniondale P.O.)
For those who may not be familiar with East Garden City:

East Garden City is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the hamlet name as part of their mailing address: places in the Hamlet of East Garden City have a "Garden City, NY 11530", "Westbury, NY 11590", "Uniondale, NY 11553" and "Hempstead, NY 11550" mailing address.

If you live in GC, find St James South. Its a quiet road that parallels Stewart , you can pick up Stewart at the Mail Processing Center east of the stores/RF entrance.
