How is Division HS in Levittown?
My fiance and I are looking to buy, and it seems there are more affordable houses in Levittown. The more affordable ones in that town are zoned for Division HS. Thing is, we don't even plan to have kids for another 6 years, so our future kids won't be in HS for 20 years. But, it's still something to consider if we plan on making a permanent home in Levittown.
Is this really that bad of a school? I've heard some people on CD say avoid it, but I'd like to get more opinions.

It's pretty good but not great, pretty much on par with Island Trees or Plainedge HS. When I was in high school, it was white trash heaven but it's changed considerably. If you can find something a little further south, MacArthur HS is by far the best in the area.

Division has come a long way in the past few years. I live on the other side of Hempstead Tpke and we are zoned for Salk/Mac Arthur. There are a lot of affordable homes for sale in my area. The cheapest going for $220k on swan lane. I am sure it needs a lot of work at that price, but at least you will be able to put your own mark on the house.
I think you will be ok with Division, I know a lot of people that went there and a lot of people that bought in that district and they are all very happy.
Levittown is a great place to live. If you want more info send me a private message. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you are looking in Levittown, Macarthur and Island Trees are both equally good. Some prefer Island Trees because it is much smaller, while Macarthur has a better sports program. Looking at academics, both of these schools are equal. Also, as a high school teacher myself , I investigated Island Trees when I moved in and it is a wonderful school district. It is also the general consensus of people that I spoke to, residents, as well as other teachers on LI. That is why I specifically bought in the Island Trees area.
Division isn't bad, but it is definately not as good. The area zoned for Division is considered to be the less desirable area of Levittown and the scores and college bound rates are lower than the other two schools. Like I said, it's not bad, but it's not very good. Resale may be affected to. When I looked in Levittown to buy 3 years ago with my husband, we refused to even look at any homes in the Division area. It was a dealbreaker for us. Just my opinion.

Only prob with Island Trees is they have a tiny library, something you might want to think about if you use the library alot.

But doesn't the general town of Levittown have a town-wide library?

That's a good question. Living in Island Trees area, I only get notices and mail from the Island Trees library. I have never gotten any postage from the Levittown library. Can Island Tree's S.D. residents use the Levittown library??

I think if you get a little hole punched in the bottom of your library card you can take out books from any library in Nassau.

That you are correct, but you are limited in what you can take out. No media/videos/Dvd's and usually no new releases.
