Let me tell you something.....after a while it sounds like whining. And it's negative.

You end up just boring people here, and it becomes a dialogue of one or two, dominiating discussion.

You have to be satisfied with the things you CAN change.

The discussion is dominated because they is no possible reply to the facts of LI police compensation. As I said to the other poster, this is not something that will change quickly, it will certainly take time. However as long as I'm a resident in either county I will do my best to end the NCPD and SCPD gravy train.

Well, when you have nothing to back you up, you call the person who you disagree with a whiner, or you tell them they are powerless.

You can "throw" ALL the statistics you want at people. THE DRONE of saying the same thing, isn't attractive, if what you are doing is trying to convince people.

I'm not trying to convince people of ANYTHING. I'm just expressing an opinion.

Whining is defined as...

whining

One entry found.

Main Entry: 1whine Pronunciation: \ˈhwīn, ˈwīn\ Function: verb Inflected Form(s): whined; whin·ing Etymology: Middle English, from Old English hwīnan to whiz; akin to Old Norse hvīna to whiz Date: 13th century intransitive verb1 a: to utter a high-pitched plaintive or distressed cry b: to make a sound similar to such a cry <the wind whined in the chimney>2: to complain with or as if with a whine <always whining about the weather>3: to move or proceed with the sound of a whine <the bullet whined…across the ice — Berton Roueché>transitive verb: to utter or express with or as if with a whine
— whin·er noun
— whin·ing·ly \ˈhwī-niŋ-lē, ˈwī-\ adverb

whining - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

You figure out if it applys to what you ALL are doing here, ok ?

One thing is important here...you all don't want discussion, you want people to "bow" to your statistics, without a "whimper" !

People "know", statistics lie. So drone on if you wish...I will check in, periodically.

Statistics are lying, in this case, about what? Which part of thousands of people applying for a handful of positions is a lie?

This is patently false.

If someone can honestly say that someone with a GED should be making 100k after 5 years of working on a job AND
have the ability to earn overtime AND
get free healthcare and pensions AND
get 6 weeks of vacation AND
get 16 extra days off AND
get chart days, etc AND
have 100% job security...

then I'd ask that person why they think this is fair, particularly in this current economic climate. If their only response is "the police are there to help you, no one else is"... or "there's nothing you can do about it"... then it's certain that the said person is probably a cop, a wanna-be cop, or a relative of a cop.

Why don't you apply for the job ?

I invested time and money into my degrees because I wanted to go into a field that interested me. Police work at the local level does not interest me one bit. However, I'd fake it if I had known as a high school senior what a great deal it is. Then I'd be on your side in this argument LOL

It's fair.

Because ANYONE who does this thankless job, deserves the money for doing it.

If you two guys are ANY example of the CRAP the police have to "take", believe me, IT'S WORTH IT !

Unfortunately, the "nay sayers", give policemen less "friendly" repartee.

Your reasoning is purely emotional. What abour nurses? They do a thankless job and have a very risky job in terms of getting sick, hurting their backs, dealing with emotionally unstable patients... why don't they get paid like LI cops? What about teachers? What about corrections officers? What about sanitation workers? What about construction workers? What about firefighters? What about janitors? What about landscapers?

There are plenty of thankless jobs out there... just because a job is thankless does not mean the compensation should be through the roof!
