North Babylon School District
My wife and I are planning on buying a house in the very near future and we are looking in serveral areas, one of which is West Babylon (hey, its affordable). However I noticed that there is an area of West Babylon that is part of the North Babylon school district. So, the question is, is the North Babylon a decent school district or is it a district we should avoid?

The other Babylon school districts have higher test scores. I've seen a lot of houses in WB that go to WB schools that are around 300,000. Not sure what your budget is though.

We are looking at houses up to $320K. We are also looking in Massapequa, Lindenhurst, Huntington and other areas. I work in Manhattan and I do not want to go any farther east than West Babylon.

North Babylon is fine. There are many affordable and quality homes in the area. Taxes are relatively low here and there are several different great neighborhoods to choose from. If you are thinking about West Babylon why not check into the North Babylon hamlet - which I think was planned out nicer. Look into Sunset City, Phelps Lake, or the Poet Section.
I have children in the district and I am very happy with the education they are getting. The elementary schools are as good as any others on the Island. The Middle School is doing well also. The High School, I must admit, needs to improve its statistics - as far as regents scores go. However, the district has a new superintendent and a very dedicated staff and community working hard to improve things.
Your neighbors will be some of the nicest people you will ever have the pleasure of knowing.

There are definitely homes here in North Babylon that will fit into your budget.
The Babylon Train Station is close by.
The Babylon station seems nice, but I don't know what its like to use it.
Deer Park station has a tremendous amount of free parking and this is the one I like to use because its on the Ronkonkoma line and has express trains to Penn Station - which will take about an hour.
