Default Long Island State...What happened to that idea?

Remember a few years back there was this big movement to turn LI into it's own state? What ever happened with that?
It seemed to just fizzle out.

Default Why stop there?

I think it ought to be its own country.

That way, a razor wire stopped fence could be erected, keeping all the designer jean clad spoiled brats and bratesses on your side. Let them all get drunk and throw up on Long Island, and not in my city.

let me guess. you are either
1. Somebody originally from Long Island, but is somehow embarressed by it so you spend all your energy making fun of it.

2. Somebody who moved to NYC and you are jumping on the "Lets make fun of Long Island" bandwagon and you actually think you are a New Yorker now.

3. You were born in NYC and you never leave it. You think NYC is the center of the universe and you are a NYC snob.

Well I lived in NYC (Manhattan) I am glad I don't live there anymore.. I got tired of living in a Jail Cell and bumping into a Starbucks or barnes & Noble every time I cross the street. Well at least you have CBGB's... oh wait, that is a yuppie part of town now... at least you have St. marks place... oh wait.. that is slowly turning into a strip mall.. well at least i know where to go if i want bad pizza, mcdonalds, the gap or subway... At least you have Times Square.. hahaha Bubba Shrimp.. what a joke.. I have freakin Fresh Fish restuarants where the fish comes off the ****ing Boat.

well I have the beach down the block. No Mall 15 miles from me and plenty of fresh air. If I want to visit a museum I'll just hop on the LIRR and I'm in the city in 45 minutes.. It's nice for a day, but not full time. I got tired of living in a jail. My backyard is so much nicer.

More specifically, I'm pretty sure he is Dedalus, a member of this forum who was banned awhile back.

How about:

4. I was born in Civilization, but got dragged out to Dung Island because my parents decided to move there.

It is, bar none, the worst place I have ever lived. There are nice people everywhere, but LI has a huge proportion of spoiled rich kids who, on a regular basis, kill people with their cars, beat up on immigrants, and infest the world with their general obnoxiousness.

You like Long Island? Great.

Stay there.

Oh, that guy? He e-mailed me telling me he got banned because some Island Girlie claimed he "threatened her."

Of course, what Island Girlies find "threatening" is fairly unique to them. Heard tell, one of ems husbands left the bathroom door open while he was taking a whizz, and she called the Coast Guard reporting a sighting of the Loch Ness Monster.

One wonders how their species reproduces. Presumably, with the aid of a turkey baster, and latex rubber gloves.
