I have introduced some native snakes as well, but being more illusive, I've only seen them on a few occassions since letting them loose.

Please, do not relocate box turtles! They will die! Turtles have a range that they learn and if relocated, do not usually survive.
Also, if there is a box turtle crossing the street, the best thing to do is to put him on the side of the street in the direction he was crossing to. If you put him back where he came from, he'll just cross again.
Yes, very common mistake with any turtle crossing the road.
If you want to be a good samaritan, place the turtle on the side of the road in the direction it was originally headed.
By my house we have this yellow bird and it designs a nest which looks like a hive and hangs off a thin branch. I noticed the Cardinals are back too :-)
I think thats a Finch, when they are all over my Finch feeder it looks like attack of the lemons.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of yellow bird on LI makes a hive like nest and I'm drawing a blank. What's the bird look like? Is the size of a Cardinal or something smaller, like a sparrow? Is it a perching bird or a tree-clinging bird, like a woodpecker? Inquiring minds would like to know!

The American Goldfinch doesn't make a hive-like nest that I know of. Though the are awesome to see in flocks, aren't they!
Looked it up, here's what enature.com has to say about the Am. Goldfinch nest: 4 or 5 pale blue eggs in a well-made cup of grass, bark strips, and plant down, placed in the upright fork of a small sapling or a shrub.
Hey, what about the parrots that live by the horse racing track in Queens?
The Quaker Parrots? Those are escaped pets, same as the lizards. It's illegal to own Quakers as pets in some states because they do so well. They build large communal nests and are noisy! I've had quakers as pets in the past, believe me they can be loud! I think my African Grey is quieter.
i saw a chipmunk running across the street once, last year in setauket. only time ive ever seen one
