This "why" the traditional banks, are becoming passe', and hopefully, will go the way of the dinosaur.
It's like being given preferential treatment for getting shot by a firing squad, so WHO CARES !
Can't WAIT until Wal Mart gets into banking, in a more, full way ! Their hidden "service charges" and usserous "interest rates" are cause enough to see them disappear !
For these ROBBERS who got us into this HUGE economic MESS, they should be grateful their Congressional "sponsors" are still on their side, and they don't get "nationalized" OUT of business !
It won't be TOO soon for me !

Its as fair as anything else. for 1 life isn't fair.
More deposits make the bank more money, simple as that. If the bank can offer an all in one solution to larger balance customers they can reap more rewards from it through fees and yield spreads.
Its similar to if you go to a resturant 4 times a week and tip well, you will get better service and have an easier time getting a table because you're a more valued customer. Do you think its fair to have someone seated before you? no. but ultimately the resturant would rather have their business than yours.

Now that's interesting because that's the same package that Chase gives to their Premier Platinum accounts ($75K or more in combined assets). In fact the small safe deposit box is free every year. Their notary service is free to any customer as far as I know, btw. In addition the Premier Platinum customers also get .25% off mortgage loan rates.
So the banks are essentially offering the same perk packages to two groups: one based on age (50-plus) and the other on banked assets. For the life of me I can't see how either can be described by anyone as "discriminatory". If you're a senior you don't even need to meet the depository requirement; if you meet the depository requirement you don't even need to be a senior.
Because of all the furor, I'm now really curious as to how many people on the forum would qualify for either perk package. New thread poll upcoming in a few....

If I'm doing a relatively large amount amount of business with a bank, I would HOPE that I'm getting better treatment than the 19-year-old with $500 in a checking account. What are you people going to complain about next?

Fallacy of absurdity.
I didn't say anyone can have anything they want.

you said all people are equal in the eyes of God. well the fact is that in the real world, people with alot of money are not equal to people with no money. money runs the world and our lives, like it or not. the more money u have/spend, the better "things" and service you get. just a fact of life, at least in any non-third-world country. "the eyes of God" have nothing to do with what kind of benefits you are given at your bank, totally different things.

Abortion is a fact of life; people will have them if it's legal or not. That doesn't stop good Christians.
So why should this "fact of life" stop the good Christ people of the world?
Besides, your point is still absurd. I never argued that people should have whatever they want. Saying that it "IS" that way isn't a defense. You've offered no rationale for why it SHOULD be that way.
