I lived in the Bay Terrace Apt. buildings, in the Bay Club and in the Birchwood Complex. I remember when there was no Birchwood, no Bay Club, all there was were trees. All the stores have changed just like you said, And one of the best places which is gone now was the Bay Terrace Jewish Deli which I had some personal ties too.

Well...we are from the same wonderful period then of Bay Terrace. We always ate in the Deli and my father was friends with the owners and the staff there. Some wonderful childhood memories at the Belle Bay Pool club (the Tennis Club) - - before it was a Tennis Club - - 63-66. I grew up across from the Bay Club - - where we had to look at the bare structure for years when the complex was bankrupt in the mid-1970's.
And those intense snowstorms of the late 1960's and early 1970's where cars couldnt move and people would go skiing down 23rd Avenue to get to Grand Union!
Back then, it seemed like everyone who lived there had three kids and everyone knew everybody else- - a real small-town feeling.
God, I still love that place......

modmondays,
Great pictures. I miss Bayside. I have some great pictures of the 10th.
floor of the Bay Club hitting the Throgs Neck Bridge the sun & the flight path of 747. That deli had the greatest food. I used to get free chicken soup from one of the owners daughters who I used to go with. Did you know the 3 daughters of the deli?

I was a young kid then, but I remember one of the owner's daughters had long brown hair and was a waitress there for many years (I think she wore glasses)
