Default Places Long Islanders could move too.

What places do you think the average Long Island would feel comfortable moving to?

I think

- Bay Area
- Boston Metro
- Los Angeles Metro
- North Carolina
- New Jersey

I forgot Chicago. Love their burbs from what I've seen. Seattle's burbs look pretty awesome also. Love the housing architecture on the west coast. Never really saw Boston burbs pictures so I wouldnt know. I honestly think NYC suburbs fail in comparison to West Coast cities suburbs in amount of entertainment, housing architecture, accessibility, etc.

I would agree as far as the burb of BOS & Harford. Just about anywhere in VT or NH would work for me, too.

I don't think the average-stereotypical Long Islander could survive in VT or NH.

The climate in the PNW would kill most Northeasterners. It's dank. And most of us would shrivel and die in New England, because we have no concept of what real snow is.

The problem is the LIer's desire for lower taxes, and the reality of what that means unless you're very wealthy or retired. A lot of those picks will not offer a cheaper overall COL.

I think there's a reason so many LIers have ended up happy in NoVA; it's a lot more like LI is than places further south.

True, but then again I'm not your average-stereotypical LIer

NoVa is equally as expensive as Long Island. I also agree with the climate of the PNW I could never live there myself.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I didn't care for LA at all, and while I really liked SF things there have changed. NC can be really nice (beaches, mountains, some nice places to live) but a person better go with their eyes wide open. Judging by how many Islanders are here VA can be a good fit.
