ASR Band, Batt.9 & Batt.15
All three met on friday nights at PS 138 in Rosedale,NY. I can't begin to talk about the trips, the reviews, the many times I and select others were driven to other battallions to teach drumlines and bugles, we were almost always taken by Mr. Ousey, and we would make a quick stop at White Castle on our ride back to PS 138. When I read some of the other Batt. stories I had to chuckle. I don't remember Batt.15 (our Girls) ever getting beat in drill team comp's in the early sixties. First they had Barbara Goldbach leading what we guys called the swaying skirts,(some of you might know that she dropped the Gold from the front of her name, and among her many credits starred with Roger Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me. Than She Married The Beatles Time Keeper Ringo Starr). After she left the position was held by Pat Ousey (now Cipollina). These girls were still knocking them dead with their routines when I left with a big Bang in 1966. I could go on for hours about what the ASR ment to me, but i'll stop now and hope I get some replys. Oh! a quick one. Dose anyone rember a camping trip in Suffolk County at what was the emergency landing field for MacArthur airport, and the marches to Lake Ronkonkama? Gary Palmese

To Truckman: No Ralph , I joined Batt.#9 in Sept 1957 at eight years old
in Dec.1957 the Rosedale branch of the Band was started and I was one of the first to join. The original Band Master was Mr. Muholland, by 1961 I became the Sgt. Drummer of the entire band, and that remained my position till I left in June 1966. Gary Palmese

Sue G. : Hey,right back at you . Your last name kinda rhymed with goose. Didn't it? I hope your doing well, and I'm glad to hear from you. We lost my Mom, Commander Martha (mickey) Palmese in March of 08. Up until she passed she still talked about "Her" girls, and the drill teams she trained. I would like to hear more from you., and your memorys of the ASR. ...... Gary Palmese

Hi Gary, I remember you well and your mom and dad. Do you still keep in touch with Tony P, John C and all the rest? My mom and dad were active in the Sea Rangers too, John and Ruth Webb. My brother John was active from the start and then I joined when I turned 8 and my brother Scott joined when he turned 8. Thank you for the information regarding Tony P, I think Scott would like to participate again but he never knew how to go about it. I will forward the info to him. What are you up to now?

Gary, I tried e-mailing Tony at the e-mail address you gave me and it bounced back as undeliverable. Is this the correct address?

Leslie W: Google Tony or anywho.com for his home phone.I think I messed up the E mail address.Aside from Tony, How are you? I remember you as one of the girls to watch in the drill team, along with a few others that really shinned. I do hope that things are well with you. How's your brother John? Didn't he lead the Batt.#9 drill team? I also remember your Dad and Mr. Doremus as the first heads of Batt#9. Let me know if you contact Tony. ......Gary Palmese

My brother John said to say "Hi". Did you marry someone from the Sea Rangers? Do you remember Pat and Bonnie Ousey? I remember Pat married Johnny C, but who did Bonnie marry? Those were great times, I really miss them.
