The S92, which runs between East Hampton and Orient Point is Suffolk Transit's second busiest route and those buses get packed during the rush hour. Politicians along the line consistently vouch for it to get later service on the days that it already runs in addition to Sunday service added to the line. I can't see why that line stops running at 8PM while there are bus lines in Central Suffolk that get less ridership but run later.

Just left long island in January and moved to North Carolina also.....
We left for many reasons....husband and I both grew up in West Islip and bought a home there....14 years later and 3 boys....all still school aged....he was able to retire......we could have stayed but I dont see a future for my kids there.....yes I loved growing up there but things have changed.....taxes are absolutely crazy, people are way to busy and not necessarily nice...I dont think the schooling is superb as its made out to be....also with my health issues the cold was starting to bother me...
We chose NC for many reasons....I still wanted 4 seasons, but in less extremes....we were able to buy our new dream home after working so hard on the home we just sold along with the knowledge that we'll be able to save for our boys futures and they will also have the ability to go to college here with less of an expense and go for their hearts desires... and last but not least....the people....there really is a different mentality down here......not saying everyone will always be so nice and welcoming but the vast majority is and its a refreshing feeling.....
I thought it would take some time to adjust but other than missing the home that my husband and I bought as our first home where we brought our new babies home to and worked so hard on ..(those really being the only reasons I miss it).....I dont miss much more.......I feel like I'm home and we've only been here a month....
I knew I really wanted to move but never realized how long overdue it was......its the best thing we've done.....and we couldnt be any happier....

Have considered Delaware? Still a seaside town, low taxes ( 1200-1500 a year). Only a few hours away from major cities NY, Baltimore DC...

High taxes, rising crime, high humidity in summer, congestion no matter where you go or what time and way too many Liberals. Open spaces, low taxes, low humidity, low crime and more Conservativism out west so I'm a goin' West! Wyoming, Western Nebraska, Utah are on my short list

Have you considered Delaware? Low taxes, and still close enough to visit LI.

So you are leaving because of your intolerance of people who don't think similarly? Much of the west will be a good fit for you; look for the Klan sympathetic parts of Utah.
Taxes are high, and the schools are outstanding. Write us and let us know about the school quality and university placement of the students for your newly adopted region. I can't wait to hear. Don't forget to tell us about the damage that corporate farmers are doing throughout the region you mentioned to soil and water quality; together you and the owners of these corporate farms can lock people like Brownback and render the Consumer Product Commission, OSHA, FDA, EPA and all the rest completely powerless and resource free! Wouldn't that be great? Then your kids can be retarded from Chinese lead paint. That's fun!
Low humidity in the mid-west? Good luck. Sounds like someone who's never lived there. And enjoy the fresh air when you are inhaling someone's exhaled crystal meth hit.
Don't let the door hit you in the a$$.

My brother recently moved to Delaware. He and his family are very happy there. Nice people. Low cost of living. About 3 1/2 hours to Long Island.

I'm not sure about that one, but I know that he has a beautiful home on about an acre and pays 700 annually in property taxes. By selling his Long Island home he was able to buy the new one in DE and live mortgage free.

That's the only way many people from LI reach mortgage and rent-free "utopia" when they move ... on the backs of the young starting out trying to buy a home that previously took 1 income to sustain and today takes 2 incomes to sustain. The housing bubble has definitely polarized the winners and losers when it comes to standard of living. Some people live housing payment free in brand new homes while others are killing themselves just to put a 50-year old roof over their heads. Not much middle ground available. As for those who move south and have no overpriced LI home to sell, I wonder how well they fare ...
