I asked you to substantiate some of your claims. That sounds rather intelligent and inquisitive to me. You on the other hand are operating on the myth of the crime-free bucolic rural areas.
I unceremoniously brought up rural poverty, crystal meth addiction, cropland destruction and the co-optation of the Republican party by corporations. You called me a name.
Like I said, don't let the door hit you.

You have to make a Stand, somewhere, for you and your Family, to have the BEST Life, you want, for yourself and them.
The first place you have to make that "life", is in your Soul. It's not a piece of land...or a house on that land, it's the Peace in your Soul.
If you don't do this, in yourself, you will NOT be happy ANYWHERE, and you will be doomed to wander "between the Winds", as the expression is, the rest of your Life.

Why am I leaving? That's easy: weather, taxes, and gas and electric bills. The electric bills would have been reasonable had former NY Governor Cuomo, in a fit of insanity abetted by his liberal environmentalist friends, not cancelled the completed, ready-to-go Shoreham nuclear plant. LI residents have been paying for that folly ever since -- with money and brown-outs.
Obama's energy policy promises to send us down the same road.

I moved two months ago for the same reasons stated weather,taxes,etc...
I moved to Central Va right outside of Richmond in a town called Midlothian. It's located in Chesterfield County. Well with three children it was rough living in a small 3br 1.5ba home in Nassau County. I guess with luck and good timing I basically moved into a 6 br 5ba house and I'm not paying a mortgage. 3x's the house 6x's the lot. The schools are great and the kids really have adjusted nicely and my pension goes so much further

Jeeze, with all the ex-pats in this area it's getting to be like Long Island but without the beaches.
Welcome to the area Mike. Lot's of us down here in the Capital of the Confederacy. Remember, it's not called the Civil War or War Between the States, but the War of Northern Aggression. Also remember that BBQ is something you eat down here where on the Island it's something you do.
BTW Make sure you that you take in Maymont Park for a picnic in the spring.

I cannot wait to move. I hate the long winters, I hate the attititude...the women are the worst. Everyone is so adversarial I feel like I have to be like that too just to not get eaten alive. I hate that my kids will not be able to live here and they will move away from me anyway. ANd the way things are going WE may not be able to afford the dinky little Levitt house we have now. I like the change of seasons but don't want the cold cold winters. Any suggestions? My husband has 5 more years before he is able to retire so it's gonna be a long 5 years.
