Manhasset...land of the spoiled kiddoe, who simply MUST have his/her $300 hat, or whatever, or all the other spoiled brats/brattesses will look down on them.
"What will everybody else think? What will they think of you?"
No matter what ruinous 'burb this way of thinking came from, the result is the same; everybody thought Bernard Madoff was honest; therefore, he must be.
Multiply this way of thought by ten thousand, and see the roots of the financial disaster our Nation has become.

Please don't paint all of us with the Manhasset brush. UGH!
I worked in an office on the Miracle Mile years ago. It was night and day from what I was used to. BUT I found that this shabby little south shore office clerk in an Americana Store received a lot of attention and was waited on ASAP. I guess they thought I was about to pilfer a *gag* $300 hat.

They would not let me give you positive reps for it, but kudos to you for knowing how to spell 'fluoride.'
I've had lots of dealings with it, and people who spell it flouride irritate me.

I see ... you were probably bullied and picked on by the other brats/brattesses in school and your hatred of all LI'ers stems from that. It could be worse. For example, you could be a serial killer. Joel Rifkin claims that being bullied in East Meadow H.S. is what caused him to become a serial killer.
PS: If you are thinking of becoming one I would suggest not being a coward like Rifkin and hunting down and killing your old classmates that ridiculed you instead of strangers.

Astoria, Elmhurst, Kew Gardens, Douglaston......other than those two years in Chicago it sounds like you pretty much lived exclusively on Long Island! Stuyvesant is a really good high school, I'm sure they taught you a little bit of local geography there!
Manhasset and most other "Gold Coast" schools are not at all representative of how the majority of Long Islanders (the ones east of Queens) live.....and one of my old roommates graduated from Stuyvesant, talk about a snob! That's not a knock on Manhasset either, I have no idea what people are like there to tell you the truth....but the North Shore of Nassau County is totally unlike the rest of the island.

In spring, 2002, I had just finished shopping at a market in Great Neck. I had some lovely 'spring mix' salad, some chicken breasts, and some ginger root. I was planning a nice dinner.
Attempting to cross the street up there, some yahoo ran a yellow light and almost ran over my foot. Since I take great exception to drivers who ignore the LAW, I swung my grocery bag at their rear fender. I connected, solidly, though no damage was done.
Attempting to further peaceably go about my business, I was accosted by two Nassau county "police" who were the drivers of the scofflaw car. Apparently, I was supposed to apologize; however, being a citizen in good standing of the United States of America, I hauled off on them. This "police officer" and his dickless Tracy partner were simply flouting the LAW; I suggested that he go pursue some REAL CRIMINALS, if, indeed, he had the BALLS to do so.
The upshot of the whole matter was that (since they had no crime to charge me with) they decided that I was "insane" and needed to be taken to NUMC's mental ward, where I remained for 33 days.
Big eye opener. There were two old people, perfectly lucid, who'd been dropped off there because their families couldn't be bothered with them. And, there was one young woman, of Jewish descent, who had decided that Jesus was, indeed, the Messiah. There was nothing crazy, or dangerous about her; she just would NOT SHUT UP ABOUT JESUS. I guess that made her "crazy."
I finally got out of there, and have been gainfully employed for some 7 years, despite their diagnosis that I was a basket case who needed to be on SSI for the rest of my life.
You people out there have a real problem. It's not unique to you, but it's particularly blatant out there. It's a decadent culture that leaves American values in the dust in favor of a 'give me convenience or give me death' ethos...which is no ethos at all.
NB: That NUMC outfit has been cornholing you Nassau County taxpayers for some years and still is - if I was you, I'd be looking for some ACCOUNTABILITY.

sad story. The police around here are notorious for almost running over people and then throwing them into the funny farm for no good reason.
Oh wait..they're not! Aside from your 33 days as a guest of the county, how much of that story is true (excluding your hysterical recollectin of the items that comprised your dinner menu that fateful day)?
Wherever it is you now reside and feel comfortable, please do us all a favor and stay there.
