We actually almost bought a house in Bellmore and I am glad that we did not. We love Levittown. I do not have one con about Levittown except maybe the taxes. The schools are excellent....We are zoned for Salk and mac Arthur. I would put them in the same category as Bellmore

Not to only that, but I grew up in bellmore and when I took the train from there, it was really annoying that people who weren't from the town ("hamlet") would take up all the parking spots.

Hicksville parking you probably need to be a resident or if not, they probably charge you an arm & leg to park. I work in the city, long nights too, and while I like Levittown, not exactly the place you want to live if you commute to the city alot.

I drive from Levittown to the southwest Bronx for work. I actually carpool with two others. I meet them in Elmont right off Hempstead tpk. In total, it takes about an hour and 15 minutes.

I don't regret moving to Levittown, I love this town.

great. That's your opinion, and I don't bash you for what you feel. I lived there for 26 years and I moved b/c I didn't like it and I didn't feel safe. That's ME. If you beg to differ, differ...but don't put me down b/c I don't like Bellmore.

My old school had swastikas drawn on it. My parents house was robbed 3 times. Our house got egged b/c we are jewish. My ex-boyfriends tires got slashed 3 times at the train station. Yes, that can happen anywhere, but those incidents were enough to want to make me move.

I don't like Bellmore and I never will. I don't need to provide facts nor do I need to justify myself.

I never said Bellmore's school weren't good...in fact they are one of the better schools on the island...however, good schools are not always synonymous with good neighbourhoods.

A lot of people like Bellmore, and that's great. Living there for more than a quarter of a century, I have seen it change and not for the better. Not to mention the value of my parents' house has depreciated sooooo much. I know all houses have, but my parents house is worth less currently than houses it was once worth more than in other towns.

I'm glad you are happy with where you live.

I'm just curious.
Which area do you think has a better school district.
Levittown/Island Trees or Hicksville?

I believe Levittown/Island Trees is ranked better than Hicksville, but Hicksville isn't bad. Hicksville is very diverse and of average scores...definately not undersirable. Bellmore has great scores too. I would equate North Bellmore as similar to Levittown, but the rest of Bellmore is nicer (homes by the water).

I love living in Levittown. It is a great family friendly town. The Island Trees school district is great! No complaints at all. I too looked in North Bellmore when buying a home and am very happy that I choose Levittown instead.
