For those who may not be familiar with Miller Place:
Miller Place is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the north-center part of the Town of Brookhaven, in the center part of Suffolk County.
Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of Miller Place in the Town of Brookhaven is bordered on the north by the Long Island Sound; on the east the Hamlet of Sound Beach and the Hamlet of Rocky Point; on the south by the Hamlet of Middle Island and the Hamlet of Coram; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Mount Sinai and the Village of Port Jefferson.
The Hamlet of Miller Place has a different border than does the "Miller Place, NY 11764" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Miller Place, NY 11764" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Miller Place and a place can have other than a "Miller Place, NY 11764" mailing address and be in the Hamlet of Miller Place): places that have a "Miller Place, NY 11764" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Miller Place are in the Hamlet of Mount Sinai; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Miller Place with a "Sound Beach, NY 11789" and "Mount Sinai, NY 11768" mailing address.
For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

The above map is the map of the "Miller Place, NY 11764" ZIP Code postal zone, not the map of the Hamlet of Miller Place.
Here is the map of the Hamlet of Miller Place:

Idk, Holtsville west of Nichols road is a really nice area, my parents used to live on Space Avenue (Farmingville) and that neighborhood is nicer than Radio IMO. I don't usually go against the RP area but I wouldn't say that Radio in MP is ALOT nicer than that part of Holtsville/Farmingville/Lake Ron. HOWEVER, the are of RP/MP is better overall. Not a huge fan of Holtsville in general; it's too industrial.

During rush hour, round trip, it most definitely is an extra hour if you work anyplace west of exit 63. Sorry Crooks, you're wrong here. Even if you back track to William Floyd, you still have 10 minutes before you get to exit 63...unless you are doing 90 mph.
The area of Holtsville the OP is talking about is not the one that is crappy looking..Rocky Point is not "much" nicer than that area. I know both areas well. That part is subjective, and we can agree to disagree.

We dont agree and thats fine but its not an hour, so please dont mislead the board.
Town for Town Miller Place (OPs town in question) is MUCH nicer than Holtsille.
As for areas... That part is subjective but Id still take Rocky Point over Holtsville anyday as the middle continues to decline.
(Although that particular area of Holtsville is apparently very nice)
Being close to the LIE in Brookhaven is not necessarily an asset but being close to 25a generally is.
