Default Alternative to LIPA????

I saw this today and was wondering if anyone knows anything about Energy Plus? I can't call now - I'm at work - but might call later. They say they are an alternative to your local energy supplier AND that you save the tax portion of the bill.

- Energy Plus Company -

I saw an expose of them on NY1 when I was living in Brooklyn. They used to go door to door in Brooklyn and ask to see your bill and then switch people without their consent.

Their bills end up being higher... way higher. I'll try to see if I can find the report on this, but it was a few years ago.

Thanks. I figured if it sounded too good to be true it probably was!

So until I can figure out how to get cheap solar, I'm stuck until I move!

At this point, I'm ready to build a waterfall in my backyard and harness my own electricity. Either that or some squirrels on a treadmill.

One thing I wish we could get in a bailout would be subsidy of solar panels, especially here! I'd install them in a second but the price is still too high.

There used to be some sort of a tax break for installing solar panels several years ago. They should bring that one back.

There is a tax break, but the panels are still very expensive. I think I priced it as $20,000 for my all electric house. Granted, it would be twice that without the tax breaks and the incentives, but it's still a lot more than my meager salary will allow for.

I think maybe the tax break used to be better or maybe the tax break was taken away for awhile? Back in the day I knew someone who sold them here on LI and people were buying them like crazy. Then the tax code changed and his company went out of business.
