When in RP I headed to Riverhead as opposed to Setauket and Lake Grove.

The DMV out there was always a good bet for getting in and out fast.

So true, 347 is a nightmare - even in the middle of a weekday (don't these people work, lol).

Going past the mall at Christmas time is horrible - I avoid it.

I really have to get out east and see more of it. I'm hoping it will give me that upstate NY feel (or PA feel) that I love. I used to travel out there all the time when I was a teen (but that was a long time ago).

Funny you should say that, I think what I loved about PA and why I'm working on moving there is because it reminds me of the east end!

The problem with PA is that there is just no jobs. I have a lot of relatives there and they all say the same thing.

If your not degreed or in a specialized trade the job market is rough. But have either 2 and you can live a real comfortable life.

My husband and I are both engineers (electrical) and there's only civil engineering jobs over there, and some mechanical (I looked). I think if your in the health industry, it is easier. I'm not looking to work - I have it pretty comfy being a stayathome mom , but there's nothing for him.

if you like a rural setting, you'll LOVE it out here. Wading river is a bit more rural than Shoreham, but both are lovely.

Here's another question: Are most families out there 1 or 2 income earners? Will I be the only stayathome mom on the block? I know it's hard to say - I can't answer this for where I currently live.
