Hooray for mediocrity!!!!!!!!!!!

What ever happened to pay on performance?
Syosset is insanely high but at least the performance is there.
Roosevelt/Floyd/Riverhead/Uniondale are pretty high too.
(The Roosevelt guy should work for $1 a year.)

Good work if you can get it.
What a racket.

The FEDERAL $$$$ spiget is just opening for these guyz....

Stimulus Plan Would Provide Flood of Aid to Education

By SAM DILLON
Published: January 27, 2009

WASHINGTON — The economic stimulus plan that Congress has scheduled for a vote on Wednesday would shower the nation’s school districts, child care centers and university campuses with $150 billion in new federal spending, a vast two-year investment that would more than double the Department of Education’s current budget.

The proposed emergency expenditures on nearly every realm of education, including school renovation, special education, Head Start and grants to needy college students, would amount to the largest increase in federal aid since Washington began to spend significantly on education after World War II.

Critics and supporters alike said that by its sheer scope, the measure could profoundly change the federal government’s role in education, which has traditionally been the responsibility of state and local government.

If you were the head of a company with hundreds of employees, how much compensation would you expect?

Compare MacArthur HS, Levittown and Syosset HS. The difference in performance, or lack thereof, is staggering!!

I've met this Dr. Sirois character before - a few times - and let me tell you, as a person (not even considering his ridiculous salary) he came off like a real pompous jerk. Recently he spent $20k of taxpayer dollars to have a shower installed in his office... however, considering that under his supervision Levittown schools have gone from either "OK" or "not too great" to posting test scores comparable to a ritzy north shore district like Syosset, I think it's fair to say that not too many people are gonna make a huge fuss about his salary. It is totally ridiculous, and the schools improvement may have nothing to do with him, but I'll refrain from pointing any fingers his way until something goes seriously wrong.

The level of beurocracy in Long Island school districts is overwhelming. Most districts have layers of administrators that could easily be eliminated saving millions of dollars without affecting the quality of education whatsoever. Many are also removed from the day to day realities of teaching as they are in seperate administration buildings and have virtually no contact with the students. People always focus on teacher salaries, but I think that it is administrative salaries and related overhead that should be closely examined.
