I'm sure the house you saw on MLS is it as well. Yes, it is a very nice house but unfortunately, we have a condo on the market to sell and things are very slow right now. So, we have to wait to sell our condo before we can make a move right now.
The main issue my husband is concerned about with Wyandanch and that area of Deer Park is he wants to be sure that the people of Wyandanch don't decide to walk through the streets as he used to work in East New York for a few years and well, let's just say it left a bad taste in his mouth. I had the same feeling as you though as it being in back streets and insulated. Tom, thanks so much for your input.

in general, North of Old country Road is ok. You should be fine on that block.

There's nothing to walk to in that section of town beyond that gas station on the corner of Straight Path and Old Country. It's all residential (except for a school) north of there until you hit the end of Straight Path at 231.

RoleModel, those were my exact words to my husband. I couldn't see why they would cut down Straight Path in that direction as it's all residential and no stores. I'm sure we'll still drive through the area a few times just to be sure. Thanks.

I thought of doing that but then I thought to myself....would they really tell me the truth? What if they are unhappy there and want to sell..eventually....that would make them lose a future buyer. know what i mean?
I even called up the police department for this area to get an idea of crime rates and how safe the area is and the cop told me he wasn't allowed to give me any information as the realtors were getting mad at them. My husband then said well, if it was a good area, then they would be saying good things and the realtors wouldn't be getting mad at them. I was thinking...maybe there's a law or something that the cops can't give any info for real estate selling issues? I am pretty much dumbfounded with their answer.

well if the precint covers Wyandanch, then whatever stats he might provide wouldn't necessarily be an accurate reflection on THAT partictular area. I really don't know if that's the case...but it might be an explanation.

I believe I called the 1st precinct which covers the areas of Babylon, Lindenhurst, Deer Park and Wyandanch.
Yeah, I really wasn't sure how to read what he was saying. I tried asking more questions and he just said he's really not allowed to answer anything. I was in aww and shock b/c I would have never expected to get an answer like that.

He could get himself in a lot of trouble for semi-racist remarks.
