Default New Septic System

I bought a home built in the 50's and I have an original block cesspool. I am looking to replace it with a septic system. Can anybody recommend any companies? I live in Huntington. Also...my current cesspool is in the backyard. With the new septic system with steel enforced rings, could I build a patio or deck above it and not worry about it collapsing?

Yes and no.......I will not collpase. You must make sure you are not posting any load directly on the cap.

This issue is access for servicing. Its really not advisable unless the deck was high off the ground.

What kind of servicing are you referring to? I assume that once installed, the new system wouldn't have to be replaced for 15-20 years except for being pumped every 2-3 years.
My dilemma is this--- If I move it to the front yard...I would have to rip up a portion of the driveway and walkway...and it would cost a lot more money. (New driveway, new walkway, and plumbing to route it to the front)

If I keep it in the backyard....if all the service it would require is getting pumped...its seems to me to be a lot more economical. In the next year or two I would like to add a deck or a brick patio. I feel that if a major service was required I would be in the same boat; either ripping up the driveway or ripping up the deck/patio. Please correct me if I am wrong. I am a new homeowner and grew up in apartments. This is all new to me.

A company needs access to the top of the cesspool for pumping.

And what happens when it needs replaced? The patio/deck would have to be ripped up, correct?

I assume a new septic sytem has a life of 15-20 years. If I install a patio/deck in the next year or two it would have to be replaced in 15-20 years or less also. I was also wondering whether a brick patio would impede the absorption power of the leaching tank in the new system.
