Nassau County Grievance Lawyer anyone?
Can anyone suggest someone other than Property Tax Adjusters, Ltd.? I can't seem to find any information on them online (including a phone number that works). It seems like everything I've found on this forum (yes, I searched) just has that guy in Centereach - and he doesn't do Nassau. Thanks!

They don't have a website. Both my daughter and I will be grieving with them this year. The two owners (they have a small support staff) handle all cases directly, and don't submit "bulk" grievances. The attorney's name is Elyse Sachs and her direct line is 516.935.6524. The RE expert is Marsha Held and her direct line is 516.364.1743.
Last time around, I grieved (successfully) on my own, however this year, I expect a lot of applications to be turned down during the first phase and I don't really want to deal with the appeal myself. They have been in this business going on 20 years and know what they're doing.
Also, they will tell you upfront (on the phone) if they will take your case or not, so all it takes is a phone call. Because they spend a lot of time in court (appeals!), it's generally best to call in the afternoon.
Good luck, whatever you do

Spoke to Marsha and she advised against filing for a grievance as my town had already lowered my assessed value by a lot for 2010-2011. Thanks again for the info!

You're very welcome! Thanks for the feedback
They only take cases if they believe they can win; otherwise it's a waste of their time, because they only get paid if there is a reduction.
Nassau County has reduced most assessments significantly for 2010/2011!
(Unlike Suffolk...)

I signed with PTA last October and still haven't heard a word from them. Just wondering how your grievances went? Thanks

What timing . Spoke with them just today and (as expected), the Town turned down most homeowners during the first round. They're (PTA) getting ready for the appeals process but warned me that TOH is still working on some appeals for 2008.
Sounds like we might find out after the new taxes have been billed, in which case there'll be a refund issued based on the new assessment. Not uncommon, unfortunately...
