This is making a Wish...because it's an implausable analogy.

Ahh so when the facts don't meet your previous notions than it must not be that your previous notions are wrong, but that someone is screwing with the facts and manipulating the crime stats right??

Anyway, I'm not saying things are perfect in Hicksville nor am I saying that it doesn't have some problems. However, the fact of the matter is the crime rates in Hicksville are extremely low, and thats something that can't be spun by having signs in a different language.
|
Yeah exactly, it's kind of stupid to even carry on with this because if someone has convinced themselves that signs in languages other than English mean that MS-13 banditos drive down Hicksville Road every night firing automatic weapons at anyone walking the streets, there's really not any sense we can talk into them.
"Oh but the crime doesn't get reported, and the police want to make it seem safer than it is....they change them to lower offenses" - dumb argument. Think about why this wouldn't be going on everywhere else. And why aren't the police "covering up" this situation in places where crime is significantly higher like Hempstead and Freeport?
No one ever said Hicksville is perfect. There are some areas that are downright crappy. It also has changed significantly from when I was younger. Both aesthetically and in the demographic makeup of the town. I think a lot of people forget that Hicksville was never that pretty to begin with, though....in my opinion, a lot of people only seemed to realize this once you could buy spinach curry on every corner.
So we have the statistics here, we have the evidence. It says that crime in Hicksville is extremely low. It says the schools in Hicksville are superb, it says the area has little poverty and is solidly middle class. These are solid facts. This is from the Nassau County Police Department, the FBI, the Department of Justice, the NY State Board of Regents and the US Census Bureau. You can believe that or you can believe a handful of "geniuses" on here who make barely legible, xenophobic posts about government conspiracies, communism, UFOs and low flying airplanes. I implore anyone new to the forums and reading these threads to do a little research on Hicksville's detractors and consider whether or not you want to take these folks opinions at face value.

Very well put. Hicksville was always an ok middle class area and it still is. Most of it is still very nice. Crime is low and the school are good. The only difference is that the population is now very diverse

Agreed. It seems like some people basically sit around and look for incidents they can make a lot out of so they can go look see something happened its getting bad anytime a neighborhood gets more diverse. Doesn't matter what the census bureau states, doesn't matter Nassau County Police say, doesn't matter what the FBI states, doesn't matter what the New York State dept of Regents states, an area has gotten more diverse, has food or signs that they don't recognize so it must be getting worse, facts be damned.

Long Island is changing ,and I do not mean for the better. The illegals are taking over and nobody wants to see this. Hicksville is the prime example. If you have young children, think about how it will be 10 years from now. The schools are half minority and alot of them dont even speak english. Just because you dont want it to be,dosnt mean it isnt happening.
A couple of years ago we moved to Rockland County and thats when you see the big difference. You say it was 1 murder and its being sensationalized. My town hasnt had a murder in 32 years. You think Hicksville schools are good. You set the bar pretty low for your kids. Between robberies and shootings and murders the last few years, Hicksville is not a good town. The problem with people on this board is they will think everything is great until they are the victims. HAVE FUN IN YOUR DREAMLAND!
