Eh, they are illegal immigrants who live in over occupied rental houses..you think they show up in the demographic data?
Non-citizens are included in the Census Bureau population figures. Not everyone (including citizens) fills out those forms, so the numbers are based partially on estimates. You get a slightly more accurate picture of an area by looking at the demographics in the school district, but if I remember correctly from another thread on Farmingville, there were a fairly small percentage of Hispanic children enrolled in whatever district that is anyway.
For me it is ALL ABOUT how they carry themselves, behave, etc. I think that's the point most people are missing. If a group of Irish people came here, brought gangs, crime, and disease I would feel the exact same way.
Unfortunately some people do look at the race and that is the problem, and because of that minorities that are here legally and obey the law are treated the same way as illegals.
Many Americans of hispanic decent are against illegal immigration. You wont hear about it much on News 12 or Newsday. Except for those few places, like the Lou Dobbs show.
When Irish people initially came here in the 19th century, they did bring gangs, crime and disease. It was a small minority of them of course, but most people who were native to the country at that time viewed ALL of them in a negative light, much like you are viewing all illegal immigrants.
In 50 years you'll be dead and we'll have a president named Rodriguez.

Many of the illegal immigrants soliciting work in Farmingville are either single, or send money back to their families in Mexico, so again, looking at the school district demographics doesn't tell you everything. You're aware that a large percentage of Mexico's GDP is money sent from the US? Look at the interviews Newsday has done with undocumented workers..most of them have no family here, other than maybe a brother of cousin who told them about employment opportunity.
I do not care if the people are red, brown purple or white. I am just stating what I realized from living there and going to the stores and sending my kids to school there. You have to talk to people . It is not so simple as statistics. But heres a statistic .Hicksville schools had 151 incidents in their high school. My town had 30 . For both places, its too much. I dont find any incidents acceptable. But 151 is a lot. Its the inside stuff that no one really hears about in the news. For example, little kids with ms13 tattoos. When I lived there, someone tried to climb through my window but a wind chime scared them away. I think that was when I decided to look elsewhere to live. While it wasnt reported and isnt per say a crime because the perps didnt follow through , I am not going to live in an area where that is going on.How about seeing helicopters flying around target and asking the cops what is wrong and their is a man trying to rob people for their cell phones ....did it ever hit the news , no. There is a lot of petty crime that doesnt get noticed. In a few years, it can only get worse. Broadway mall has people from all over , thats true. Do you want these type of people in your Long Island malls or towns. Again, I am not complaining because it has changed to half indian , muslim and hispanic. I am complaining about a murder (actually there has been three ) , and the recent break ins and crime that seems to be in Newsday. Well, as long as it is none of you that it happened to , who really cares , right. My wife loves Long Island so I still check in on newsday and see how the island is changing . Some people cant see it because it is very gradual. I am just surprised that everyone isnt on the same page with this. By the way, Im from Pearl River .

What do you want me to tell you? Why are you carrying this on? I live on Long Island about 3 miles from Hicksville....I do not see this, you're not going to change my mind. There's never going to come a point in time where I say "oh hey, you know what - I think you were right all along".
No offense, but all your "horror stories" sound like a bunch of convoluted nothingness that you've used to convince yourself things are as bad as your imagination makes them seem. The phantom cat burglar scared by the windchime? The full APB police helicopter over a parking lot purse snatcher? The deadliest 4th graders around: gang affiliated? You say "a lot of petty crime goes unnoticed" but again, what makes you think this doesn't happen everywhere else on planet earth? Is this a phenomenon somehow unique to the Hicksville area, and should we view the crime stats differently based on that assumption? I have no idea where these "incident" statistics come from, but keep in mind Hicksville HS has 700+ more students than yours (I just looked it up).
I am not amazed by any of it....got any other gems for us?
You are right about one thing, not everything makes the news. Murders and other violent crimes can and do happen everywhere, many many more than we hear about each year....even in your lily white, semi-rural Rockland County suburb!

You'll have a President of Hispanic decent in 10-15 years, not 50. I don't have any issue with that, nor should anyone. I do have an issue with MS-13, though, and people openly flaunting their affiliation to it in public worries me. Sorry, I have this thing about gang violence.
You can believe that they are a bunch of horror stories concocted just for the sake of annoying you . Well, most of the families I know have left to live elsewhere but my father still lives there. He thinks its very convenient and he doesnt have kids in the schools so he doesnt pay attention. There was a burglary during Christmas and he looked outside his window and thought well, its not me and went back to bed. So, I have some gems but its not enough to convince you and its very easy for you to write them off as me being ridiculous . Well, I stand by the fact that these thugs from Westbury came by my neighbor who just moved from Westbury. And thinking no one was home, tried goin through my kitchen window off my deck. I know, it was just once .There was only 3 murders in the past three years. As far as the incidents in the high school...it was only 151 . Where I live, there are less people in the high school. Thats because they are not bringing people from the other towns as Hicksville does. Also, that accounts why kids cant eat lunch at a table because it is overcrowded . So, its a great school
And yes , my town is often called pearly white river. Doesnt bother me. So, since you live in North Wantagh , have fun at Jones Beach this summer JONES BEACH - A 19-year-old was shot in the face Monday in the parking lot at Field 4 at Jones Beach I know ....it was only once and you dont go to field 4 or you go to Tobay ...you never liked Jones beach much anyways. Just because you dont open your eyes , doesnt mean its not happening. For the most part, Long Island is ok because its always happening to someone else but maybe people should look into whats gone wrong instead of accepting it.

First off where did you get that 151 incidents from? Secondly, just because you can point to a few incidents doesn't mean that the area is going downhill, its bad or anything like that. The crime rate in Hicksville and Long Island as a whole is extremely low and those are the cold hard facts.
