How much to finish a basement?
I know this has been asked before but how much for the basics, lighting heat, walls, maybe a bathroom? And can anyone recommend someone?

I finished half of mine (about 600 sq ft) without a bathroom for about 4k. I had the carpet installed and had somebody do the electric for me....the rest I did myself.

Though we have our differences on the issue of illegal housing I can recommend the guy that does my renovations at my properties, great guy and excellent work. He renovated our whole house when we bought it, no issues at all. From experience I can tell you that the bathroom will eat about 30% of your budget, it also depends on a full bath or just half bath. If you want his # send me a DM.

Yet he's an expert in carpentry, plumbing and electric.
What happens if his expert electrical work causes a fire?
I wonder if he gets Underwriters Certificates? He should supply the homeowner with one, after doing a service change....

wouldn't have any electrical work done on my own home by someone who's not licensed and insured Not worth the possible consequences...
