Massapequa,Wantagh, Seaford or Farmingdale, please advice!
Hi everyone, me and my boyfriend are moving to LI but still haven't quite decided yet to which town. We have thought of Massapequa, Seaford, Wantagh or Farmingdale. Can anyone please give me an idea of which of these towns has a nicer dowtown area and a richer natural environement? Any ideas welcome. Thank you!

you can't go wrong with Massapequa, Seaford or Wantagh.
Farmingdale is not bad either, but some sections are worse than others. It's hit or miss.

If buying in Massapequa, make sure the home is NOT in the Amityville School District.

I think a lot would depend on other things that you may be interested in, or might be looking for. In many ways these areas could be considered very similar in terms of "nicer downtown". As far a "natural environment" you are a bit closer to the beach in Wantagh only because I think it's closest to the Wantagh Parkway. Beyond that there are plenty of parks in each hamlet and block after block of standard LI suburbia.
Are you looking to buy or rent? Kids or no kids? Commuting? Planning on staying 5 or more year? Is distance to family important? I think answers to questions like these will result in more specific answers as to which area might suit you best.

What is the measurement that determines this ranking?

Regarding your questions: I'm looking to buy a single family for 450K. No kids, but definitely would like to buy somewhere were is easier to resell eventually. Planning to stay for at least 5 years. What I mean regarding a "nicer downtown"is in reference to how lively it is, a place where you can find nice coffee shops and restaurants. I also enjoy towns that are "walkable", this means that you don't necessary need your car to move around...about nature, is good to know that all the area is nice. I heard that the "woods" area in Massapequa is pretty nice. Is this correct? About commute, 45-55 min. to Manhattan is fine with me. Thanks for all the thoughts.

I think your best bet would be Farmingdale, it's the only one with a legitimate downtown area and it's one of the best on LI. If you lived close enough to it (and there are some extremely nice areas nearby - not sure if they're in your price range, though) you could walk everywhere, including the train station which averages 50 minutes to Penn Station. Wantagh has one too, but it's much smaller and really geared towards the bar scene entirely. Massapequa and Seaford are nothing but strip malls and highways.
