I would like to purchase a couple of trees and shrubs for my property. Could anyone recommend a good nursery/garden center around eastern Nassau/western Suffolk? Thanks in advance.

Dees Nursery in Oceanside and Atlantic Nursery in Baldwin are both great. Check out your local Home Depot or Lowe's as well...you can find some great things in their extensive garden sections.

Cheap Sams in Holtsville. The place is huge. They have a wide selection and their prices are better than any other nursery you will find in Nassau County.

I always go to Cheap Sams if I am buying bushes or Trees. It is worth the ride.

Viette's is very expensive. You will pay more for the same shrub there than you would at any of the less "snob appeal" nurseries.

You said "western Suffolk" which mean you probably would not want to go as far east as Bayport but if you do, there are two nurseries there: Daisy Gardens on Gillette Avenue (south of Montauk Hwy) and Bayport Flower House on Montauk Hwy (just west of Nicolls Rd). Of the two, Bayport is more expensive.

If you feel like taking a trek further east, maybe to combine with a visit to the Tanger Outlet in Riverhead, the Peconic River Herb Farm can't be beat. Despite the name, they no longer sell just herbs ..... they sell everything -- annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, aquatics, you name it. IMO the best nursery in Suffolk County.

There's also Paul's Nursery on Pulaski Rd in Greenlawn! Nice selection, too

Hicks has a huge selection of everything the also have huge prices to go along with that. Atlantic is also another good nursery. I use Cipriano on Front St. in East Meadow. You can get money off the regular price ticket with a little haggle sense. The people that work there are also know the product very well.
