Jennifer06-I am sorry you feel the way you do about this district, but I have to weigh in and disagree. I teach at the middle school (for over 10 years), and I live in the district. It is a wonderful building with a great support staff. Our kids are great! I think I can count on my one hand the number of fights I've seen this year. The district continues to make academic strides, and they send kids to Ivy Leagues. In fact, a former student just informed me that he was accepted to Boston College. I just wanted to weigh in, because I grew up in a ritzy South Shore town, and I attended Westhampton Schools. Riverhead kids are on par with students from other surrounding districts. The town itself is in transformation, but we feel a real sense of community here and we've never felt unsafe. Again, I'm sorry you are having a difficult time, but I think your judgement is unfair.
