Just kidding - I mapped it out and the actual divider of east/west would be somewhere right around the aptly named Middle Island and Yaphank border (so closer to William Floyd than Route 112). I'm shocked that there's that much island east of that, anytime I head out to the North Fork or Montauk I always think "oh sweet, I'm almost there" right around that location.
As far as the (somewhat) cultural dividing line? I guess I'd put it around there.....I've always thought once you pass 231 or the entrance for the Robert Moses Causeway you're "out east" but looking at a map thats too ridiculous. It's honestly way too hard to say, too many different areas. South Fork/North Fork/Town of Brookhaven are nothing alike.....that messes it up. I remember the first time I went out to Splish Splash it seemed like driving to another state, and I think it actually is much further away than Connecticut from where I live.
Growing up in Babylon, I always thought the ends of the SSP and NSP were kind of the "end of the road". I guess that's pretty close to 111. Anything past there was like another world.
You now what, sean sean Nicolls is an interesting take.
It may be the end of Western.
But if we are to consider Central I donk know
110 is delusional.
Something tells me these people havent been outside their Levitt capes since 1965.

I'm sure you realize that for many people in Nassau and even western suffolk (especially those who commute to NYC), the "central" part of LI is basically "flyover" country.

Im sure you realize that many Eastern LI residents consider Nassau or Up Island to be the same.
I really dont think anyone could really consider Brookhaven as "flyover" country.
that's fine, but there's a lot more of us so what you think doesn't really matter...lol.
really? tell that to the thousands of people who cruise right through without stopping on their way to the hamptons or vineyards.
I was thinking more of the thousands of people on their way to the city who dont even stop for a pee break in Nassau.
Stop being silly
