The other place i've been hearing for years is around Central Islip. I'm guessing somewhere near where the Ducks play by Carelton Ave.

Nunley's Carousel
My dad ran that carousel back in the 50's for years, then we moved to Copiague NY and he ran the carousel at Smiley's happyland for about 10 years. Has anyone heard of Alfred Gunyan. He really could make that carousel rip. I was a very young kid when he worked there. Unfortunately I have no pictures of him working there. I guess you could say the house we lived in was practically in the parking lot of Nunley's. We lived on Millburn Ave in Baldwin. Has anyone heard of Andy Fitzpatrick - he also worked there and then moved to Hempstead and worked at Smiley's Happyland too. I was wondering if anyone knows of any kind of archives or where I could look to find any kind of pictures or records of him working there. I have been working on my family history and making a book and that would mean the world to me with both my parents being deceased. I do have a picture of when my sister was 12 years old playing in the snow in our yard on Millburn Ave and you can see Nunley's in the background. Anyone with any info I sure would appreciate it, especially today being they are starting up the Nunley's Carousel for the first time in 12 years!

They were doing it based on accessibility for traffic and a large open space.

As an aside, I know they've tried to build something in Yaphank, but wouldn't it be good if Suffolk County tried to lure the Isles by building an arena in their county due to the failure that is the Lighthouse project? Yaphank Avenue is readily accesible from the LIE and Sunrise and is wide enough to be expanded to multiple lanes. Plus, they could possibly build a newer Yaphank LIRR station.

I've been saying for years that the Islanders should move further East. Uniondale is just too damn far from most of the fanbase.

Central Islip and Yaphank were the other areas brought up for the Isles too also based on proximity to Computer Associates and away from the city and the Rangers.
