Yeah, Barry invented the 7000 calorie healthy salad. His wings were awesome too. By the time I got old enough to order a real shotgun blast, I had already wore myself out on Jr shotgun blasts.
I don't remember having to ever wait a long time for a table at Big Barry's and the place was always packed. I miss the privately owned restaurants.

I know place this was mentioned but the Copiague All Weather Drive in was the largest in the country and had Amusement rides to keep the kids busy before the movie started. Across the street was the Roll-N-Ice. Roller Skating upstairs ice skating downstairs. 2 things I don't miss are the toll on SS pkwy and the one on the Robert Moses bridge. Then there were all the places along the south shore where you could rent a small boat and go fishing. It was cheap fun and you would come home with a meal. I would go with my Dad out of Babylon but I can't recall the name of the place.

Where was this in Copiague? I am just trying to think where something so large would go.

I remember when Caldore was at Green Acres (where Target is now), they used to have good sales.
I still like the Target that's there now .

Ha! My sister had a birthday party there when she was 12 or 13. Yep, been there several times. Thanks for reminding me of Farrell's!

My parents took us kids to that Drive-In plenty of times. I still can remember those amusment rides.
Does anyone remember the Bethpage (or was it called Hicksville?) Farmer's Market? My grandparents would drive there just for the Polish Bakery and Butcher Shop. What great food!

Not anymore, according to their website, there's only three left: Levittown, Riverhead, and the most random of them all: Brookhaven Hamlet.

I miss Tony's Pizza on Clarke Street off of Washington Ave. in North Brentwood. Is it still around?
Man, that was the best pizza on the island back in the 70's.
