There were way more choices, but they keep messing with it and shrinking it at both places.
I do miss Arby's as well. Had one in O'side when I was a kid. I thought there were 2 Arby's still on LI? isn't there one in the Sunrise Mall too?
Had a Roy Rogers in O'side too. I've had the urge to stop at the one in Shirley many times, but for some reason I just haven't. Does it have a drive through? I don't remember...going to W. Hampton tomorrow, maybe it'll be the day I finally stop at RR's...

Yes it does. It's on William Floyd Pkwy on the east side of the road. The menu seems to be shrinking every year and it looks a bit run down but beggars can't be choosers.Whenever I was in Penn Station i'd always hit the Roy Rogers there.

I've been away from LI for 19 years, and I still can remember the bakeries. Getting fresh rolls and pastries on Sunday mornings. Cheesecake King in Commack Corners. Talk about memories!!

Beach glass.
We would find it all the time on the shore.
Indian paintpots and arrowheads.
Once ubiquitous, now gone forever.

My parents moved out from the city to NB in 1962(?) and bought their first home on Marcy St for $13,500. I left NB for Smithtown in the middle of 8th grade in(I think?) 1973 or 74, so yes, I did the full K-6th grade thing at Belmont but only 1 1/2 years at RM Jr High. Class of 75, so it looks like we lived and grew up mere blocks from each other and probably know some of the same families. I guess I'm 2 years older than you.
Let's see if any of these teacher's names are familiar to you. Spelling may be off.
Belmont Elementary
Mrs. Ragerio, Mr. Sweeny, Mrs Bass, Mrs Hickey.
*Maybe* Bass and Hickey sound vaguely familiar, but none of the ones you mentioned were my teachers.
K: Mrs. Pewfall(sp?) Some of the teachers' names eludes me at the present, but I remember Mrs. Richardson, Miss Mangini, Mrs. Freeland(sp?)
Mrs. Judge, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Saffron and the Principal Mr. Lions(Lyons?)
Robert Moses
Mr. Lefler, Miss Michalson
I *think* I remember Leffler. The rest is pretty much a blank, being as we now had a different teacher for each period, and I was out of there before the 2nd half of 8th grade.

Ed's Bay Pub?;-) I used to keep my boat docked off Springville Rd in Hampton Bays during the 70's and even lived on it for periods at a time uring the summer, and the one thing I remember most about Ed's Bay Pub, was the ambulance pulling up to pick up (yet)another injured brawler. During the summer, it seemed like this happene every weekend there. I liked the Tides Inn better;-)

I took a road trip a few years back just to finally try some real Philly Cheese Steak....man what a disappointment. Pat's was extremely greasy, not very big either....and Gino's was better, but still not great. I still have not gotten over it.
The Family Diner in Centereach had a good cheesesteak....unfortunately they just closed down a week or so ago. I have had good ones on the Jersey shore at various places too.
