Default Dear Elmont School District - Leave Me Alone!

I guess whoever owned my home phone number before me had a child enrolled with the Elmont School District. Despite several calls over there - they will not stop calling!

And they call a lot!

Perhaps it's a good thing that parents are kept in the loop with these automated messages. Or maybe the principal just likes to hear his own voice. Either way, it doesn't matter. I get several calls a week at dinnertime or on the weekend and it's annoying!

I'll call over there tomorrow...again...and beg to have my number removed from the list.

Speaking of which...I do get a lot of calls for other people. How long should I give it before I decide to change my home #?

If you change your number, you're just going to continue getting calls for the people who owned the new number.... I had the same problem (not w/a school district calling, but other people calling). It took a few months but, eventually, they realized the forner owner of this number no longer had it. It was really annoying and, at first, I just let the calls go the answering machine. When that didn't work, I started answering the calls and had to tell all these people "sorry wrong #" (about 500x!!)

It's an ongoing issue. We bought our house 7 years ago. We're STILL getting calls for the guy who had the number last- from creditors, the millitary, etc. I've asked the callers to remove the number but it continues (not as often, but we get at least 2 calls a month).

The best you can do it plead with the school district. Maybe you'll get someone with a sympathetic ear who will help.

We had the school snow list to contend with - at approximately 5 AM every time it snowed we were woken up with this awful phone call. Despite my telling them (same person!!) time after time to cross us off the list, couldn't make them understand that we didn't have any kids and they didn't believe us!

I went to the school and had it taken care of in person.
