Children's Museum of the East End

Well worth the ride and significantly less crowded (and cleaner) than the Nassau one.

A bit smaller, but we loved it.

If you go mid week you can avoid the Land Rovers and Maclaren strollers.

A lot of local camps host Holiday Camps during the vacations. I know Rolling River Day Camp in East Rockaway hosted one over President's Week and is hosting another camp during the Spring Break
