NOT ANY MORE ITS JUST LIKE QUEENS unless your on one of the dead ends going down to the water where houses start at 3 million.
And for what ? To look acroos to Great Neck at the raped landscape and eruo-stucco temple's and mosoleam's with 8 bathrooms the rich Iranian Jewish refugees put up ? These people have 500 watt floodlight burning all night long, 9 foot walls. Great Neck shoreline off Manhasset bay looks like Attica prison.

Traffic is horrendous, most agressive drivers in New York.
Every evening especially Sunday night you can’t get down any road that has restaurants. I just was at Northern Blvd and Little Neck parkway it was just like midtown Manhattan 5PM rush hour but WORSE! The restaurant valets double park the cars everyplace and the cops wont touch them. The little Aisian woman walk like ducks taking baby steps. It takes them 2 light cycles a cross the street.

Same deal on the Great Neck strip by the movie theater don’t Great Neck housewives ever cook for there family’s ?

Joe L how do you make it through a day without exploding? You always have the angriest, most hate-filled posts.

Also do you happen to like anyone who isn't Italian because it sure doesn't seem that way in the short time I've been a member. You are scaaaaary.

I think that no doubt one of the reasons that some moved out of LI because of the high taxes but also to many ignorant that they can't stand as well. Times have changed and diversity is better for LI.

Diversity is better for Long Island, how again? So that it can soon become a copy of Queens?

Do you actually think these things out or do you just like to speak in cliches?

My husband and I make about 150k combined. We are looking for a house in a decent area. We can't afford anything. (I am not referring to Wyndanch or Hempstead etc). We are living in his parent's home to try to save money. We almost closed on a house, realized the mortgage payments on the 450k house would be 4k, and freaked. We wouldn't be able to do anything but live in the house. Then, what if we wanted to have children? On one salary? Impossible. I love long island, but don't know how young people can buy houses, have kids, and live like our parents. The price of houses doubled in the past five years. The salaries did not double. For young adults, we also have to include the 100k in student loans in order to get the 75k job. So, what is the solution???? Sigh.

L.I. isn't really diverse anyway. For years and years there was redlining and steering going on in L.I. And it still happens to a certain extent. I still see new stories from time to time about young professionals of color getting steered to certain neighborhoods although they make good money.

L.I. is mostly full of segregated neighborhoods. But so is much of the city when you think about it.

The only solutions for young people are to somehow become rich, or relocate. Nice future huh?

I predict a lot of native New Yorkers leaving within the next 10 to 15 years.

In psychology, this behavior is known as rationalization.
Ignoring plain facts that might cause one to change one's mind has been called "cognitive dissonance."

In her book, "The March of Folly," the late Barbara Tuchman called it "wooden headedness."
